Everybody has a story. Every business does too.

As a journalist, I learned how much stories matter. Stories stick with us – we remember them, and they tie into memories that are already within us. As a lawyer, I learned the importance of communicating clearly, and getting a persuasive message across.

Today I use all of those skills to tell your story. Your story is how customers and clients will relate to your business, and it should come through in everything that you do. I work with you to use your online presence to help tell your story better.

The Process

There is no ‘one size fits all’ solution when it comes to creating content. That’s why my first step is a complimentary consultation with you to discuss your business, where we can work together to determine your specific needs. From there, I will suggest a path to work together going forward that’s within your time frame as well as your budget. Once you agree, we’re off to the races.

L

Services - Blogs, Newsletters, Articles

This is truly one of the easiest ways to market your business, yet while most professionals know they should do it, few know where to start. We can work together to make your publications current, relevant, and interesting to new readers. You pick the topic, I’ll make it happen.

Editing

Every writer needs an editor, and every piece of good writing needs and deserves a second set of eyes. I’ve edited everything from newspapers to magazines to graduate theses, all with an eye for improved readability and flow.

L

Content Strategy

Simply having content is little help if it’s stale, hard to read, or irrelevant to a broader audience. I will work with you on a plan to keep your content fresh, vibrant, and attractive so that it can serve as the powerful marketing tool it was intended to be.

Sometimes your needs won’t fit into a check box, and that’s okay too! If you have unique needs, let’s work together to come up with a unique solution.

About Shaun

Storytelling has taken me wonderful places. As the editor of my high school newspaper, I developed a passion for interviewing, and interviewed a wide array of influential Canadians about what advice they had to offer a next generation of leaders.

As a patient advocate, I was involved with the various youth committees of an established medical charity, including serving as editor of their province-wide newsletter. I focused my energy on helping patients, especially young people, tell their stories with a hope that it might inspire others to reach out and build a stronger patient community.

As a graduate student, my love of storytelling re-kindled my passion for journalism, and taught me how to write for newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and the internet. As an intern at CBC Radio, I had a hand in producing interviews for Toronto’s top-rated morning show, helping to tell Toronto’s stories in a warm and engaging way.

In my legal career, my storytelling played an influential role in my employment law practice. I was able to explain a client’s legal options to them in plain language, so that they could make educated decisions about how to best resolve their matter. I also wrote countless blogs, newsletters, and articles, including my own blog, News From The Break Room, which won prestigious Canadian Law Blog (Clawbie) Awards two years in a row.

Whether it’s your story as an owner, the story of how you started your business, the story of your product or service, or the story of what keeps you going – there is always a compelling story there. Those stories are what keep your customers and clients engaged, and they are well worth sharing.
